I love how this video:
1. honors the legacy of a storyteller
2. calls out to each of us to find and use our voice
3. admires childlike wonder at humanity
I've posted a video by StoryCorps before. They're an exciting organization. They're mission? To provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives.
We need stories. My mom is a storyteller- she doesn't just tell a good story over dinner, although that is entirely true too. While I was growing up, I would go with her to events where she was hired to tell stories. And I mean really tell stories. We're not talking "Storytime with Linda" here. These are fully acted and realized dramatic monologues of folk tales. Yeah. Its good stuff.
And people think I got my public speaking and dramatic skill from my pastor-father. Hah.
I love this video. LOVE! I am sharing it on facebook right this second. Thank you for sharing it today. May we all communicate more.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad! I think that the most enthusiastic response to a blog post I've ever had!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing it! I absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteI finally got a chance to watch this after seeing it before and loved it! That's so cool that your mom is a storyteller. I'm a teacher and we have to be actors every day.
