thoughtful thoughts / 15

I've received a lot of love lately. Guess who didn't take the train home on Wednesday night: this girl. All that "alas" and "dark streets" talk, and then the hubby surprised me with a ride home after all. Four weeks and no late night train? Let's go for five!

Happy Friday, friends. May your weekend be full of true artistry.

her baby

I've loved Madame Roulin and Her Baby since my first time seeing it at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I'm not quite sure when that first sighting was. It may not have been until living in NYC during the summer of 2007, but part of me thinks I saw it on an earlier trip visiting my brother. Maybe Fall of 2006? Like I said, I'm not quite sure. But I do know I've loved it for years.

When I first saw this baby I couldn't stop smiling. That quirky wobble, and emotive face! That experience of love-at-first-sight. You've had it before, yes? First time you hear a song and you know you just love something about it. First time you see that swipe of a paintbrush and those colors placed together in just that way. Phew. Its love.

I try to fall in love regularly. I want to be continuously falling in love with my husband, faith, the power of hope and good humor. I wonder...do you think falling in love with exhaustion is an option? That would be a useful one for me to enlist.

Some days are just blue days. Vincent always knows what I mean.
