rife with good

People are capable of such kindness. My sister drove into Boston on Wednesday night, a 40 minute drive each way, just to give me a ride home from class (and save me from the commuter rail). A few minutes from home I got a call from Jake: "Where are you?" / "Close." / "Good." I parked in the driveway and Dallas was waiting for me on the porch, tail wagging as if she hadn't seen me in years. After a few sweet canine moments, I made it through the door to find an "I'm proud of you" card on the counter and Ben&Jerry's in the freezer. He'd not only waited up, but prepared for my arrival.

I find myself having a generally poor opinion of humanity. We seem most often discontented and selfish. I am, at least. What a relief to have a smack of what else we're capable of- kindness, generosity, sincere thoughtful care. We are capable of such good.

I'm praying for a weekend rife with good. Amen? Amen. Happy Friday, friends.
