ready to anticipate

When I hopped in my car on Monday, the driveway of the small school nearby was a traffic jam. I thought of how sad the teachers must feel, going back into their classrooms after months of sunshine. Then I thought of the students, and initially assumed they'd feel that same dread of the school year. But, you know what?, then I remembered that I always loved going back to school. Despite the end of summer, the end of free time and swimming in the ocean, the end of afternoons reading up in my favorite tree, back-to-school meant a new beginning. I love the freshness of starting.

So, I instilled some fresh starts this week. I deep cleaned the house, even using the proper vacuum heads to get into the corners of every room. I bleached down the bathroom in a way that should happen more often. I cleaned out my car and vacuumed that too. I organized my desk and went through the one lingering box left from our move in June. I weeded the garden- like, really weeded- bathed the cat, and even opened a cookbook and made dinner (which is such a big deal it may deserve it's own post). When I took the trash and recycling to the curb last night, I had that new-school-year feeling. I feel as if, even though the Fall looks different than I'd hoped it would, I'm ready for it. I'm ready to anticipate goodness and stop dreading the same ol'.

Here's to starting- Happy Wednesday.

I love this post. It might just be the inspiration I need to devote my weekend to a fresh start. My house could definitely use a deep clean and some organizing to make me feel renewed. And my garden, well it's a disaster just waiting for some TLC.

Happy Wednesday to you, as well. :)

    1. Thanks for the comment Gypsy in Jasper! My garden had gotten to be a complete disaster too- I found entire vines of our cherry tomato plant that had branched into the wilderness of weeds. I even found a cantaloupe the size of an apple we didn't know was growing! I'm glad this might inspire a little renewal on your end too. :)
