song a day siblings

I spent Saturday in New York City with my brother. In 2007, he and I shared an apartment in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) for a couple months, aka the-best-summer-ever. Since then he moved abroad, I graduated college, we've both had relationships come and go, and we've both moved a slew of times. Still, those shared NYC months are significant to our friendship.

Last summer, Stevie moved back to the city and even though I've visited him several times- once for the NYC Marathon, if you recall- this weekend felt especially reminiscent somehow. Being in NYC together made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We were both in grand moods, and in love with the Big Apple. We walked The High Line and drank Stumptown Coffee. We tweeted.

It all made me want to write a song about it. Want to know funny fact about the summer of 2007? My bro and I wrote a song every day- over 70 in total- and even played a few NYC bars. Well, we played one bar twice. I shouldn't exaggerate too much. We were adorable more than we were talented and, humorously, you can still dig up our old Song-a-Day-Sibling selves: myspace | blog

The internet is a funny place. Sometimes it helps remind me that no matter how much I change, pieces of me are constant.
