26 November 2014

for everything // 2

+ Tomorrow is Thanksgiving folks, and we're in the very last week of November. Next month? The LAST month of 2014. Praises be. This year is coming to a close and I am ready for 2015. I usually mourn the end of a year- its gone by so quickly, bla bla bla. This year? Gimme holiday celebrations and time with family and a brand spanking new year. Please and thank you. So ready.

+ Very soon, our house will smell sweetly of a roasting turkey and gravy simmering on the stove top. How awesome do the holidays smell?

+ When I left my job commuting, I was sad to leave behind long phone calls with mia madre. Why did I fret over this? Now we have brief, but daily, conversations on my 10 minute drive home. And you know what? No traffic in that equation. This just further proves there is no justification for commuting. Listen to your podcasts while you exercise or do sewing projects and leave the commuting behind.

+ Speaking of sewing projects- we kicked the pups out of the living room once and for all, and in celebration I've made us a couple new throw pillows (we gave up on them when the dogs systematically destroyed every.single.one over the last year). Now our living room is not consistently strewn with dog toys AND we have pillows again. Boom.

+ Alice loves her Uncle Adam and it is precious. She goes to him without hesitation, lays her curly-haired head on his chest, and chats to him while he plays guitar. That he's willing to give his days off to watch her for us is icing on this very sweet cake.

+ Our church. I am so thankful for our church. I grew up in an awesome church family- truly a family- and I had not found a church that offered that kind of community until we started attending Highrock. Do you know how good it is to look forward to going to church on Sunday? To feel comfortable picking up the phone to call or text a pastor about anything? Its awesome. And it is good. And I could cry over my joy that Alice will have this community around her as she grows.

Have a beautiful Thanksgiving and travel safely.
