My computer crashed last week and I thought I'd lost hundreds of photos. My one consolation- other than telling myself we would just need to revisit all those places and moments to get new pics- was at least we have the blog. I'm relieved that the computer is on the mend and we were able to find the old, full camera memory cards (and now its all been backed up in multiple ways). I'm also thankful for the blog though. It has already documented such important days in my newlywed, grad student, over-worked life.
This blog turned ONE last week. An entire YEAR and 210 posts have gone by rather too quickly. Still, I enjoy scrolling through posts, reading the journey of the past 12 months and finding moments of real honesty, reflection, and vulnerability. I was moved to read first year of marriage lessons here and here, and I know that I learned about Jake's MS through writing about it. Again and again, I read through my own writing and am grateful that in the act of writing I am able to realize a little more of who I am. And three blog series have even emerged:
In Profile
Helen
Arthur
Linnie
Objects of Affection
A Porcelain Slipper
Meditation Chimes
Quilted Pillow
Thoughtful Thoughts

What better way to kick off another year than with a reminder of how it started- the benediction behind the title:
