a visit

Emily, Jake's older sister, visited this weekend. She is utterly calming, and it was a blessing to be still and present with her. Saturday brought a drive up the coast, through salt marshes and over island bridges. We bought raw milk from a small, unstaffed farm with an open cash box and trust in it's customers. We looked at old photos and enjoyed the distraction of photo booth, giggling uproariously over the ridiculous warping photo booth effects.

I wish I was better at this being present stuff. I wish I more naturally slowed down and breathed deep. I'm not wired that way, but I'm so grateful for the chance to do so.
