you go girl.

As a kid, I prided myself on my lack of femininity. I didn't have a female friend until 3rd grade, and when I did I still preferred Keith, Danny and Chris. I loved frogs. Green was my favorite color and I despised pink. I went to Wilderness Camp every summer, and idolized my brother. And I think, deep down, I felt a little like Riley:

Amen. Preach it sister.

Every kid is different. My niece and nephew couldn't fit the mold more perfectly. Katie El was arranging her shoes by color and style before she could walk. Artie always has at least two Hot Wheels cars in his little coat or pant pockets. And I admit, recently I have been drawn to warmer, "feminine," colors. I'll try on a pink sweater and consider buying it, but- to this day- I still feel more confident in green. Something about those tomboy years don't wear off.

I hear you Riley. Keep fighting it. Oh, and I like your green shirt.
