starting

Have you written a paper lately? I haven't. I've written blog posts, emails, and even speeches. But no papers.

Until last night, that is. Last night I started to write my first paper of grad school. And you know what I remembered? What I had so conveniently forgotten? That its the STARTING that's difficult. Where do I start? How should this sentence start? How should this paragraph transition? Where do I go now? Golly. 

Have I been thinking coherent thoughts since undergrad? I'm not sure that I have. Writing my thoughts is proving far more difficult than I my rose-colored glasses tell me it was back then. My one consolation? That now, instead of walking to the cafe on campus and grabbing an apple or a latte, I make dinner with my husband. Just look at that face.

And then after dinner when I'm perusing blog world? "What are you doing Kimi? Is that your PAPER Kimi?" Ok, ok husband. Back to paper-writing I go...
