Today was a hot day in the theatre with a new group of campers and then a freezing day back at the office prepping for the beginning of our show season in the Fall. It ended by teaching a great voice lesson, in a more neutral temperature, so I arrived home singing "Just You Wait" from My Fair Lady. I'm no Audrey Hepburn, but I can dream, can't I? Check her out:
Did you know Julie Andrews played the part when the musical debuted on Broadway though? Hepburn was cast for the film version, but the songs weren't transposed down to suit her vocal range. Trivia fact: Marni Nixon sings the vocals you hear when watching the movie. Surprising, huh? Or did you know that already? Any-who, Hepburn DID sing most of "Just You Wait." I'm glad for it- that girls got spunk, and incredible class...even as Liza Doolittle.
